Universities Allied for Essential Medicines is hosting a weekend of action from April 21st to 23rd in coordination with the first ever March For Science in Washington D.C. and in honor of the 30th anniversary of ACT UP.
Together, with other grassroots advocacy organizations, including ACT UP, The Other 98%, Treatment Action Group, Health GAP, the Student Global AIDS Campaign and the Youth Alliance for Health as a Human Right, we will march in support of the science that saves lives everyday and fight for access to medicines for all.
We need your help to provide travel funding and housing for our student members from across the country to come together in person for this exciting advocacy opportunity! Your support will make it possible for students to converge and make their voices heard at an unprecedented time for science when grassroots activism is needed more than ever.
After the march, we will be organizing a follow-up action to #takebackourmeds, urging the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to work to ensure affordable access to publicly funded medicines. Just as ACT UP did in 1990, we will come together with our allies to stand up and speak out, calling on the NIH to take action, and remind them that "medical treatments must be developed for public health, not for private profit."
Your donation will go towards sponsoring at least one student to attend this historic weekend of action!
