This fundraiser has been set up to support the travel of a comrade to Rojava in March, on an invitation from Kongra Star, a women's organisation, in order to contribute to the presence of the Kurdish struggle in Western medias. Here is a statement from her:
"Hello friends,
I have been given the opportunity to go on a one-week international women's delegation to the Autonomous Administration of North East Syria (also known as Rojava) in March, organised by Kongra Star, a confederation of women's organisations in the AANES. This delegation is intended to bring media attention to the region in the context of heightened harrassment by the Turkish state in the past two months and a threat to the autonomous organisation and livelihood of the region's millions of inhabitants.
Rojava is one of the most successful experiments of a people's revolution in the world, achieving incredible progress in the way of ecological struggle, women's rights and democratic organisation, and continuing to inspire revolutionaries around the world — its survival is essential to all of us, and in a moment of crisis, I hope to be able to contribute however little I can to break its isolation. My trip will result in media activity in the French & British press with several newspapers having asked me for reports and several more I hope to be able to submit to. I am also programmed to give workshops and talks for local organisations after my return, in order to spread awareness of the Kurdish struggle and share what I have learned from it. In general, I hope that my experience on the ground will contribute to weaving networks of international solidarity around Rojava.
This is, however, a costly trip — flights, local travel, equipment, and preparation costs are estimated to add up to around £1,200. As I don't currently have sufficient funds to finance this by myself, I have decided to ask for your help to make this trip possible. I am extremely grateful for any amount of money you can give, as well as sharing the link to your networks. The money received will go exclusively to travel expenses and to some necessary equipment. If there is any, surplus will be redistributed to other or future travellers on delegations to Rojava.
Thank you so much for your solidarity!"
