Parents for Palestine YVR invites you to become a sustaining member of the Gaza Soup Kitchen’s location in Al-Nusairat, South Gaza.
Amidst escalating mass starvation, Gaza Soup Kitchen is one of the last community kitchens still operating. Each of its 8 currently operating locations work tirelessly to feed up to 350 families each day that they're open, providing hope and nourishment amidst unimaginable challenges. As of Sept 9th, the incredible Gaza Soup Kitchen team is still able to source enough food – against all odds – to keep each location open about half the time.
It currently costs about $1,000 USD to operate one location's kitchen for a single day. Thanks to this community's incredible solidarity, we are now able to fully support one of their location to operate 4 days a week. But with famine conditions worsening, we want to do more – so we're continuing to raise funds to ensure that we can keep supporting their operations even as food prices continue to rise.
For every 150 members of the Parents for Palestine community who join together and each donate $10 a week, we'll have enough to support one day a week of operations for a location feeding hundreds of families (including covering the cost of currency fluctuations and payment processing fees).
*Note: the total above is showing all donations over time and not per week
The need is immense. Eight existing kitchen locations across Gaza Strip continue to serve thousands, despite the dangers, shifting costs, and terrifyingly real food shortages.
With borders tightly controlled by the occupation and almost nothing going through, food prices have become out of reach for most families – if anything is even available. The Gaza Soup Kitchen team is able to use our donations to buy what supplies they can find (mostly canned and non perishable items) and combine them with occasional home-grown vegetables to sustain thousands of people.
By becoming a sustaining member of the Gaza Soup Kitchen, you can help ensure consistent operations, expand to areas of critical need, and provide life-saving resources to families who need it most. Together, we can make a tangible difference.
