Greetings! SubRosa is an anarchist community space run by a collective of committed people (mostly) from the Santa Cruz County area*, freely giving of our energy and time. This is a space to meet people, share resources and ideas, challenge our assumptions and act on our passions.
We put our energy into SubRosa to create a vibrant environment, available for events, classes and meetings, collaborations and organizing, art and creativity, as well as reading and studying. We offer a selection of radical books and zines and other swag - for sale and by donation. And check out the Anarchist Lending Library featuring books that might not be available in the local library.
And SubRosa hosts an eclectic mix of local and independent bands and performers from across the continent (and beyond!) - all shows are notaflof & all-ages. SubRosa is a dry space and safe(r) space. Since SubRosa is an anarchist, anti-authoritarian community space, we want to host events that are not in conflict with these principles and practices.
As anti-authoritarian space, we strive to nurture an environment where people are empowered to have interactions based on self-responsibility, mutual respect and free association. We want to create a welcoming space for others who share the goals of diverse community, respect for all forms of life, and freedom from coercive relationships, to foster an environment free from sexism, queer&homophobia, racism, able-ism and other forms of hierarchy. Let’s create together the world(s) we want to live in now.
It is part of our mission to create a space outside the realm of commerce. Your donations enable this community supported space to remain available. Please consider making an ongoing monthly donation (your monthly donations are helpful for us to be able to consistently budget our expenses, like rent). Of course, one time and other periodic donations are welcome as well.
SubRosa is also fiscally sponsored by the Santa Cruz Hub for Sustainable Living - The Hub is a nonprofit charitable corporation under 501(c)3 of the IRS tax code - Employer Identification Number (EIN#) 31-1748056; California charity registration number CT0249716. More about the Hub at http://www.santacruzhub.org/
Also, the Action Network, which hosts the fundraiser requests a "tip" and this can also be adjusted from the default of 10% to "no tip" or even more.
We are grateful for your support.
Thanks!
Zee & Jay (of the SubRosa collective)

* Located in downtown Santa Cruz, CA which is the unceded homelands of the Awaswas-speaking Ohlone people known as the Uypi, who stewarded these lands since time immemorial. Centuries of colonial violence led to the removal and displacement of the Uypi. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.
