Serving land defenders since 2015
The Supporter House opened its doors in August 2015. Since that time, it has welcomed many land defenders and supporters from all four directions under its roof. Whether travelling to and from the frontlines or dropping in for a well deserved break, the Supporter House has been there as a place to get a good night's sleep, enjoy a hot meal, access the internet, and do laundry. A space that is autonomous and grassroots. We humbly operate on Wet’suwet’en territory in so-called Houston, BC
We need your Support to stay Sustainable
The Supporter House always encourages those who are able to leave a donation to help with expenses of the the house. However, we know that the people who utilize and benefit from our space the most are often the ones who are least advantaged by the measurements of settler-colonial society.
Many land defenders make the choice to dedicate their life to protecting Mother Earth. The Supporter House is there for them with a dedicated space which includes extra beds, a collective kitchen, community free store, free internet and laundry. If you can't be on the frontline yourself, a monthly donation is a critical act of mutual aid
We are here for the long haul
Through pandemics and raids, the Supporter House continues to adapt to new circumstances in an uncertain world. Currently we have Covid protocols in place to host supporters who are socially isolated. Last year we completed a number of renovations to our upstairs - including new bunk beds and mattresses in our main guest room. This year we have plans to upgrade our kitchen and living area.
Your support goes directly into supporting the collective functions of the house. In this moment of uncertainty, we think the most certain thing we can do is build infrastructure from which long-term objectives may be pursued. Having places where people can go where there are warm beds and hot soup waiting may be an important part of that.
