Imagine suddenly facing the choice of buying food, paying the rent or keeping the heat on. One in seven households in NY are facing this financial cliff.

• CNY SNAP recipients rely on $22 million in critical food security funding each month.
• 40% of those affected are children, and one in five are senior citizens
• 84% of recipients have income below the poverty line

We're reaching out to all CNY Solidarity Coalition members, supporters, allies and friends. If you are lucky enough to not be experiencing food insecurity. Whatever your level of relative abundance, please dig deep and give generously so that we can provide critical funding to the Food Bank of CNY. 100% of funds received through this effort will go to the Food Bank of CNY. This virtual food drive will run at least through the end of the calendar year. Funds will be sent to Food Bank of CNY at regular intervals starting in November.

The Food Bank of CNY has unmatched local buying power and distribution logistics. Food is distributed to over 500 local sites throughout 11 CNY counties.

We are especially hopeful of seeing many smaller donations. Many generous large donors have gotten us to over $12,000 already. But with 6,000 people receiving our emails, small donors can easily make a HUGE difference. A $25 donation to the Food Bank buys 75 meals, $50 provides 150 meals! It's the most cost-effective way to help alleviate hunger across our region.

We probably don't need to tell you, but this need is urgent, deep, and has very serious implications for our entire community.
