Have you ever wondered what would happen if an entire country disappeared before your eyes? What sounds like a fictional construction, is now a raw reality for Tuvalu: an island nation located in the South Pacific, fighting against the devastations of the global climate crisis.
For more than a decade, climate change has not only led to an increasing rise in ocean levels but has also played an important role in the lifestyles of Tuvaluan citizens. Sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, population, basic services, and recreation have been severely affected, accompanied by a lack of resources and international visibility.
Despite the challenges experienced on a daily basis, the citizens proudly state: "our people are warriors, and giving up is not an option for us". However, this is a crisis that cannot be solved by Tuvalu alone due to the inequitable distribution of injustices caused by big polluters and indifferent leaders.
Saving Tuvalu is a global campaign focused on providing humanitarian aid and raising international awareness of Tuvalu's climate crisis. Through an international and an internal team, it seeks to develop actionable and visible projects that provide citizen-based solutions for the improvement of quality of life indexes (learn more about the campaign by visiting its website www.savingtuvalu.org or social media accounts https://www.instagram.com/savingtuvalu/). Our proposed projects include the purchase of photographic resources that allow citizens to portray their first-hand experiences; the financing of long-term desalination plants to address the problem of water scarcity; or the development and execution of the first-ever climate strike in the nation's capital, which will take place soon to amplify the voices of the community.
Our organization is entirely financed by small funds. Unfortunately, our current economic capacity holds us back from carrying out our work. Through this fundraiser, every dollar, every contribution, and every share will help us to make our projects and goals a reality! Help us change the narrative and prepare a place for Tuvalu to stay!
