We are the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) District Council 36 – a democratic, member-driven labor organization representing more than 50 autonomous Local Unions in Southern California.

Council 36 members -- from social workers, librarians, 911 emergency operators and medical professionals to sanitation workers, groundskeepers, and many others -- proudly serve our communities as employees of both local government and private, nonprofit sector agencies.  

We fight not only for the betterment of our members but for all working people in an economy that has swung wildly in favor of billionaires and CEOs.
