We are an all volunteer organizing force here in Asheville, NC that exists to provide onramps for white people and people with privilege to center and follow Black and Brown leadership to dismantle racism locally and in collective action across the nation. 100% of the money we raise goes to support Black and Brown people led organizing in Asheville.

ASURJ is a local chapter of the national organization, SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice). “Through community organizing, mobilizing and education, SURJ moves White people to act as part of a multiracial majority for justice with passion and accountability.” SURJ National was founded in 2009 in response to a call by Black and Brown activists for more White people to challenge the racial backlash after the election of the nation’s first Black president. Organizing ourselves to take action for racial justice was SURJ’s first act of accountability."
