Beyond Plastics Buffalo

Welcome to Beyond Plastics Buffalo, a passionate community dedicated to advocating for sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. Our primary focus is to promote the Packaging Reduction and Infrastructure Act, a crucial piece of legislation aimed at regulating plastic packaging across New York State.

The Packaging Reduction and Infrastructure Act aims to reduce plastic pollution in New York by banning 17 toxic chemicals in packaging, including harmful substances like PFAS, PVC, lead, and mercury. This ban is crucial for protecting public health and the environment from harmful chemical exposure.

Additionally, the act seeks to limit single-use plastics by reducing plastic packaging by 30% over the next 12 years. By requiring all packaging to meet a 75% recycling rate by 2052, the legislation encourages companies to adopt more sustainable practices. This comprehensive approach holds corporations accountable for their packaging waste, benefiting both taxpayers and the environment.

Join us in our mission to:

  • Engage with local leaders and assembly woman Crystal Peoples-Stokes
  • Educate the community about the importance of packaging reduction
  • Advocate for sustainable practices and solutions within our state

Together, we can forge a path toward a cleaner, greener future for Buffalo and beyond. Let’s turn our vision into action!
