Freedom To Breathe Coalition
The Freedom to Breathe initiative envisions the creation of a trauma-informed movement with the power to dismantle inequities and the environmental racism that is still rampant and to create a just and equitable future for all. While rooted in Appalachia, the Freedom to Breathe campaign is designed to serve as a model that communities nationwide can adopt and adapt to their local needs.
About BLAC
The Black Appalachian Coalition (BLAC) is a multi-state campaign that amplifies the experiences of black Appalachians, whose voices have been historically excluded from issues that matter despite having a presence in the region for generations. This invisibility has resulted in Black communities shouldering the heaviest burdens of economic distress and environmental damage.
