Unitarian Universalist Ecosocialist Network
The Unitarian Universalist Ecosocialist Network aspires to equip congregations with the tools to organize popular education and ecosocialist projects within our association to further the movement from barbarism to ecosocialism. We do this out of necessity and in the face of total ecological collapse.
What is EcoSocialism?
Ecosocialism offers a transformative vision for society, prioritizing the well-being of people and the planet over the capitalist pursuit of endless profit and domination.
Ecosocialism is a political and economic philosophy that seeks to integrate principles of environmental sustainability and social justice. It advocates for the transformation of society to address both ecological and social issues, recognizing the interconnectedness of environmental degradation and socioeconomic inequality.
At its core, ecosocialism emphasizes the need to reorganize production and consumption in a way that respects ecological limits and promotes the well-being of all people. It critiques capitalist systems for their prioritization of profit over environmental health and equitable distribution of resources. Instead, ecosocialism proposes alternative models of governance and economic organization that prioritize sustainability, community ownership, and democratic decision-making.
In essence, ecosocialism envisions a society where ecological harmony and social equality are mutually reinforcing, where the health of the planet is safeguarded alongside the dignity and rights of all individuals.
We advocate for non-reformist reforms within the capitalism political system to immediately improve the lives of working people; but only a revolution will hold enough power to get rid of this rotten system that prioritizes profit over people and planet.
We need to get organized.
What is the Unitarian Universalist EcoSocialist Network?
We are organizing a popular education and action network within our Unitarian Universalist Association to raise class conciseness to the necessity of socialism in the face of climate barbarism. We ground our socialist organizing in our diverse UU (intra)faith tradition and our shared Article 2 values/principles.
