Correct Crisis Intervention Today NYC: Fighting to Transform Responses to Mental Health Crisis in NYC (formerly communities for crisis intervention teams in nyc) (CCIT-NYC).

Half of all people killed by police live with mental health issues. Over the last four years alone, eighteen New Yorkers experiencing a mental health crisis were shot by the police, and sixteen of them were killed. Of the sixteen, fifteen were Black or people of color. This must end. The time to act is now.

CCIT-NYC seeks to create a system that diverts all mental health crisis calls away from law enforcement to special mental health teams consisting of a peer (a person with lived mental health experience) and an emergency medical technician (EMT).
