David's List - Let's Flip Congress & Build Progressive Power!

This is a newsletter where I highlight one great candidate or progressive electoral group to support in key states & congressional districts each week.

The goal is to strategically funnel money to important ORGANIZING efforts that are building power from the ground up through the leadership of ordinary people -- and not just dumping money into TV ads which don't have lasting power past the election. The truth is that NOTHING is more effective in persuading or motivating voters than a face-to-face conversation with someone who lives in their community. There's never any obligation to contribute and there's no hyperbolic, hyperventilating hard sell to fork over your money.

Your information won't be shared with any campaign (except for the info you decide to give through online contribution forms). And of course, you're free to unsubscribe at any time.

Who Am I?

You might be wondering -- how does David have any idea about efforts around the country, much less which ones are effective?

I've been following politics closely for the last two decades and I've worked on campaigns and community organizing efforts in California, New York, Maryland, and Washington, D.C..

I earned a Ph.D. by writing a dissertation on strategizing by progressives to build lasting power through the electoral process. You can read my essay in the LA Review of Books to get a sense of what I learned -- https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/crisis-liberalism-part-ii-policy-no-power/

Recently I've done extensive reading and research into current organizing-based electoral efforts around the country for articles and essays I'll publish soon. Plus I'm constantly reading about politics and organizing -- including in local news sources -- to keep up to date on the latest developments.

If you're super wonky and you want to learn more about integrating community organizing with electoral campaigns, check out these two reports by USC's PERE Center:
