Drop the Charges Against Amanda Wallace!

North Carolina is prosecuting Amanda Wallace, Founder of Operation Stop CPS, seemingly in retaliation for her organizing in defense of families. While working as a CPS caseworker in North Carolina, Amanda realized she had become a “silent enforcer of an oppressive system.” This led Amanda to launch Operation Stop CPS in 2021, an organization working to end the kidnapping of Black children from their families. Less than three months after Amanda launched Operation Stop CPS, the State launched a bogus criminal investigation against her.

Two years later, the State Bureau of Investigation surrounded Amanda’s home and served a warrant for her arrest – traumatizing her family. The charge? Accessing a government computer during her employment.

This isn’t the first time Amanda appears to have faced retaliation. The court also issued a restraining order prohibiting Amanda from even visiting the courthouse, blocking Amanda’s court advocacy. North Carolina’s treatment of Amanda Wallace is a continuation of the government’s long history of using the criminal legal system to destabilize civil rights and social justice movements.

For example, in the 1950s, the FBI launched the Counter Intelligence Program (COINTELPRO) to surveil, infiltrate, and disrupt civil rights organizations, and fabricate criminal charges against leaders. This continues today, as law enforcement surveils, criminalizes, and brutalizes people organizing against Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians, the construction of Cop City in Atlanta, and other social movements.

What can you do?

1. Take 30 seconds to email DA Freeman to demand that she drop ALL charges against Amanda Wallace: bit.ly/AW-email-action

2. Take 2 minutes to her as well. Phone: (919) 792-5000, Ext. 5

Script: My name is [NAME] and I am a resident of [WHERE YOU LIVE]. I am reaching out to demand that DA Freeman dismiss all charges against Amanda Wallace as soon as possible. Ms. Wallace’s advocacy to keep families together should be celebrated, not criminalized. Continuing to prosecute Ms. Wallace is a miscarriage of justice and a waste of taxpayer dollars.
