Everyone gets an American Union Job

Martin Luther King graces a $1,300 bill

Ending poverty is an essential part of the American Union demands. Our crowdsourced legislative package will establish the American Union Jobs Program. It provides an unconditional paycheck, to help us all be better Americans. Every adult receives $1,300 every month, plus $433 for children, to be used freely without any restrictions. (Infographic)

In addition to universal basic income, an American Union Job includes health benefits - the opportunity to buy insurance through a public option. For those who have employer-based income, 18 weeks of paid family leave is also included. An important part of being an American is participating in our democracy, so an American Union Job enables every adult to vote in Federal elections.

Payments go into personal bank accounts with the US Treasury, set up for free for every American. American Union Jobs are paid with Treasury Dollar Bills, digital legal tender issued by the US Treasury. Digital dollars can be spent with a debit card, withdrawn as cash, used to pay taxes or other bills, transferred, or saved, all without any banking fees. By introducing new money at the bottom of the economic ladder, we create a trickle-up economy that benefits all of us and ends poverty.

The American Union Jobs Program doesn’t make Americans employees - there’s no clock to punch, no reports to be made, and no one can be fired, suspended, or laid off. Instead, it’s a reminder that the Constitution sets out five duties for Americans in the Preamble, individually and collectively: establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. As independent contractors, how we fulfill our responsibilities as Americans is entirely up to each of us.
