Friday for Future Open Collective International Accounts

Welcome to the Fridays for Future Open Collective International Accounts Work Group

'Everybody is Welcome, Everybody is Needed!'

Goal:

To make money fairly, equitably and easily available to Fridays for Future activism at the local level.

Example Accounts

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-usd-it-admin

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-eu-it-admin

Reimbursement Principles Proposal:

These accounts shall also cover unavoidable costs first:

1. International IT and Administration costs

2. Local Flyers, banners, speaker systems.

3. These accounts shall make an initial donation of the first 50 euro or USD to new accounts.

4. These accounts shall give a sum, which could expand over time, eg 50 euro or USD twice yearly, around large strikes. These accounts shall receive this money and show the money is being used, eg, a max of 200 euro could be in the account. Local donors shall be encouraged.

5. Large city strike costs shall be encouraged to set up a local account.

6. Travel and accommodation costs, (please note: flight costs and business class train are not recommended). Max individual travel contribution to Fridays for Future event/year 100 euro. Also, travel shall be less than 25-50% of the yearly budget and be used to encourage local groups to build their own accounts and promote inflow into these international accounts.

7. Living costs for full time activists are seen as part of local autonomy for the local and work groups. They shall have their own accounts. In the future, living expenses for full time activists working on AN, Map and other international tools, in conjunction with local level coordination, shall be considered.

Operational Practices Proposal:

1. These accounts operate are in line with the following agreements:

Vision Proposal (Agreements, also known as, Code of Conduct)

GDPR Declaration of Understanding (Core Values)

2. Payees are encourage to be involved with the FFF Map work and actively encourage people to donate to the account they are applying to:
a. Sign the Vision Proposal and GDPR Declaration of Understanding
b. Get involved with the #FFFMapSolidarity work, Work a shift on this account, 3 months 2 hours/week and hopefully set up a FFF local/national Open Collective account
c. Promote Fridays for Future Open Collective accounts, e.g. Arrange these accounts on the fridaysforfuture.org/contact with a donate money flag.

3. These open collective accounts are administrated as a group with trust and therefore it is incorrect to remove people without their written permission, unless they have been inactive for an extended period e.g. 6 months and there is an email or minutes of meeting trail of this and requests where they are unresponsive.

3. All accounts are encouraged to keep low balances at all times and spread money around to cover especially local regular weekly costs. It is important to recognize that internal theft is unfortunately, not uncommon within movements. Therefore it is recommended efforts are made to 'mitigate for power', enable local autonomy and decentralization of power, using rotation, random selection of candidates, eg. candidate free voting and citizen assemblies. Also, in the case of the open collective accounts, it is important to see them as money pipes, where money flows through rather than 'bank accounts' where money is stored. Movements, with Activism are living organisms.

4. There shall be 3 administrators per account so as, if one administrator is submitting the cost then it shall need to be approved by the other 2 administrators.

5. Managing accounts and age: All for Climate and other Open Collective Hosts may have an age limit, in live with a country's banking laws.

Fridays for Future will try to enable Everyone of all ages to administrate the Fridays for Future accounts.

If the account is called School Strike 4 Climate, then people not attending school are recommended to only play a support role.

6. Please be transparent, inclusive and actively mitigating for power using and enabling all work groups' local autonomy.  On example of transparency is to give a name which matches your purpose. For example, if your group wishes to steer the money to a 'separated' race, country, local group, work group, sex, religion, age or with a potentially discriminating purpose, please be clear to everyone and state this sub group in your name. This will reduce confusion for everyone, especially donors and if there is a decision to limit payments to a 'separated' group.

7. Meetings shall be held on around a monthly basis for 8 months/year and answer times to requests shall be kept to within a few weeks during these months.

8. Since the original opening of the first USD and euro open collective accounts, the intention has been to cover and share all international payments.

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-us

The USA OC and European OC accounts have effectively shared, each 50%, of the international payments.

Currently, a sum of a few thousand Euro and USD per year. This sum is increasing and needs a guaranteed flow.

This is why this account
https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-us

has been the main supply to the USD admin IT account.

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-usd-it-admin

And this account
https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-eu

has been the main supply to the EURO admin IT account.

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-eu-it-admin

Therefore the https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-us, the

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-eu accounts and other funding methods are requested to agree to back up these international payments showing in the https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-usd-it-admin and the

https://opencollective.com/fridaysforfuture-eu-it-admin accounts.

In the future a 'tax' of 20% annual budget could be considered.
