GECAN's purposes are to:

  1. to promote community awareness of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions from within the City of Glen Eira and the broader community.
  2. to initiate and promote greenhouse gas emission reductions, and to achieve emission reductions at least as ambitious as the targets adopted by Glen Eira Council on 5 May 2020.
  3. to promote biodiversity, sustainable living and amelioration of the impacts of climate change in Glen Eira and beyond.
