Georgians for Affordable Energy is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for utility reform in Georgia. Georgians for Affordable Energy was established to address the growing burden on Georgia ratepayers caused by Georgia Power's expansion of nuclear and gas energy, its suppression of solar initiatives, and the failure of the Public Service Commission to protect consumers and regulate in the public interest. The organization will focus on utility and commission oversight, public education, and empowering consumers with the knowledge and resources needed to drive utility reform in Georgia.

Patty Durand is the founder of Georgians for Affordable Energy. Patty's career includes 10 years as director of the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative, a nonprofit that publishes research reports about grid modernization and consumer engagement. Patty has authored numerous essays and white papers about energy problems in Georgia and how to solve them.
