GR Rapid Response to ICE
GR Rapid Response to ICE is a network of people in the Grand Rapids, MI area. We are trained to come to the aid of immigrants who face arrest, detention, or deportation from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Rapid Response to ICE are allies in the fight against the repressive practice of detaining, arresting and deporting immigrants that ultimately destroys individual lives and families. We exist at the request of immigrant communities and with the advice and leadership of undocumented and documented immigrants.
If you are in Kent County, Michigan you can call 211 for help during business hours. After business hours and on weekends, you can call 616-238-0081. If ICE is at your home or workplace, or if they have just arrested someone, you can connect with the Rapid Response team by calling 211 or 616-238-0081. You’ll get a group of people prepared to act directly in solidarity with you and your family to show up at your immediate locations (the DIRECT ACTION team), or you’ll get a few people to rally other kinds of aid (MUTUAL AID). We can connect you with a lawyer, help make phone calls, provide temporary help with children or elders, rides, food, connect with social services, or whatever else you might need that we can help with.
