Fight Hunger Through Policy Change

Policy changes are critical to ending hunger in Iowa. In partnership with our six Feeding America partner food banks, we lead advocacy efforts and track state and federal policies that make us more efficient and effective in serving the more than 229,500 adults, children, and seniors facing hunger in Iowa.

1 in 13 Iowans are food insecure, including 1 in 9 children. The impacts of hunger - especially on children and seniors - are well-known. Living with hunger impacts growth and health and causes other medical and mental health conditions, which can have long-lasting repercussions and consequences.

We also know that our local, state, and federal lawmakers have the power to make policy changes that can reduce - and end hunger - in Iowa.

In partnership with Feeding America, Iowa’s food bank network will leverage our collective power to educate and advocate for policies that eliminate food insecurity and help our food banks serve Iowans facing hunger.

Your voice matters!

Working with your regional food bank, we will share information and communication about how you can use your voice to advocate for policies that can end hunger for our families, friends, and neighbors across Iowa. Stay tuned for more information.

As you know, hunger not only impacts the health and lives of the families affected, but it also impacts Iowa’s workforce and ability to strengthen our economy across the state. Increasing food security and ending hunger is good for families, communities, and our state.
