Lift the Ban Coalition

The ‘Lift the Ban’ coalition is advocating for economic well-being and stability for Illinois’ families through repealing the Rent Control Preemption Act of 1997, and establishing rent control for Chicago residents.

The “Lift the Ban” coalition is led by the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization, Chicago Democratic Socialists of America, Lugenia Burns Hope Center, Northside Action for Justice, ONE Northside, Pilsen Alliance. Current membership includes: Action Now, Autonomous Tenants Union, Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, Chicago Teachers Union, Coalition for Equitable Community Development, Common Cause Illinois, Jane Addams Senior Caucus, Lawyers Committee for Better Housing, Little Village Community Development Committee, MH Action, Manufactured Home Owners Association of Illinois, Metropolitan Tenants Organization, Northwest Side Housing Center, People for Community Recovery, SEIU Health Care, Somos Logan Square, 33rd Ward IPO, 12th Ward IPO, 25th Ward IPO, United Neighbors 35, United Working Families, Westside Health Authority, and Working Family Solidarity.
