Massachusetts Campaign Finance for Childcare Coalition
The Massachusetts Campaign Finance for Childcare Coalition is working to pass S475/H769 An Act Supporting Parents Running for Public Office. This bill would amend the current campaign finance law to cover childcare expenses just like other allowable expenses such as printing literature, meals for campaign staff, tuxedos for campaign events.
Seventeen other states and the federal government allow campaign funds to be used for child care. This past December 2020, the Special Commission on Family Care and Child Care Services offered recommendations for how the Legislature can effectively implement and amend current legislation to allow Massachusetts candidates to use campaign funds for child care expenses.
Join us in urging the legislature to pass S475/H769, common sense and equitable solution to the barriers that working parents face while running for office.
