Michigan Coalition Against Racism in Sports and Media

Kalamazoo, MI

The Michigan Coalition Against Racism in Sports and Media is a group founded by Native Americans and supported by anti-racism allies.

WE WORK TO END  THE USE OF RACE-BASED SPORTS MASCOTS AND LOGOS AND RACISM IN THE MEDIA.

We frequently host  informational tables at Pow Wows throughout the state. We and our supporters initiate letter and e-mail writing campaigns to various schools and newspapers in Michigan, and attend school board meetings to help effect change through community education. We confront racism, wherever it resides. Many of our members have helped to eliminate mascots at their own schools.

Our group is part of a social movement across the country.

We are part of the National Coalition Against Racism in Sports and Media
