US Navy Chief Petty Officers Association
The United States Navy Chief Petty Officers Association (USN CPOA) represents the backbone of enlisted leadership in the United States Navy.
We unite active duty, reserve, retired, and honorary Chief Petty Officers (E-7 through E-9) across the nation and around the world. Today, the U.S. Navy includes approximately 335,000 active duty Sailors, with Chiefs comprising roughly 7–8 percent of the enlisted force. That leadership tradition extends across generations — among the more than 3.6 million living Navy veterans worldwide, an estimated 270,000 to 275,000 once wore anchors as Chief Petty Officers.
Chiefs carry the institutional knowledge, operational experience, and mentorship responsibility that sustain readiness across the Fleet. The Mess is not just a paygrade — it is a standard.
USN CPOA exists to preserve the proud heritage of the Chief Petty Officer community, strengthen professional development and mentorship, advocate for Chiefs and their families, and ensure that the voice of senior enlisted leadership is heard at the national level.
Through charitable initiatives, educational programs, legislative engagement, and community service, we uphold the values of accountability, service, and integrity that define the Chiefs’ Mess.
Guided by tradition. Leading with integrity. Representing generations of anchors — past, present, and future.
