New Mexico Environmental Law Center
Albuquerque, NM

The New Mexico Environmental Law Center’s (NMELC) mission is to work with frontline, low-income and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities to protect our air, land, and water in the fight for environmental justice through legal services, policy development, advocacy, and public education. We provide free legal representation to clients who experience the “first and worst” impacts of pollution and environmental degradation—or organizations (e.g., nonprofits, coalitions) run by and representing frontline communities—so that they can continue leading as grassroots change-agents.
