OSPIRG Students
OSPIRG Students is the state's oldest student-directed and funded nonprofit started in 1971. We’ve been winning change for 45 years on issues from protecting the environment to fighting poverty. We train students to be effective activists and win the greener, healthier, more meaningful future we all want. The future belongs to young people, it's up to us to dream up the society we want and build the people-power to make it a reality.
Since our start in 1971 we've done everything helping create Oregon's free and open beaches, to protecting 2.6 billion dollars of the Pell Grant. Last year we worked to collect 2,000 petitions against the dangerous fossil-fuel Jordan Cove Pipeline, released a student-written report which was covered by 3 media outlets, and worked with student government at UO, SOU, and LCC to pass resolutions against the project.
