Planning to Succeed - Advocate for Self-Directed Planning Time
Jefferson City, MO
PLANNING TO SUCCEED
is a group of teachers, counselors, librarians, school staff, parents, and community members committed to ensuring teachers and educators have the resources (including time) to inspire students and nurture their natural love of learning.
PLANNING TO SUCCEED's
purpose is to help educators advocate to policy makers about the need for self-directed panning time for teachers, counselors, librarians, and all certified staff.
WHAT'S HAPPENING?: The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) proposed a rule to change recommended minimum planning time from the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 6).
- DESE has NOT included protected self-directed plan time in their MSIP 6 recommended language.
- DESE has NOT included planning time for counselors, librarians, and other certified staff.
- The Missouri School Improvement Program is the standard used to evaluate and accredit all public school districts.
- Past versions of MSIP included a specific recommendation for 250 minutes of plan time for teachers. We stand to lose precious time!
- This isn’t a done deal! We need your voice in order to protect our time.
