Resist Rockwool
We are a grassroots movement to prevent Rockwool from constructing a heavily polluting mineral wool factory in Jefferson County, West Virginia. The factory is permitted to spew 156,000 tons of toxic, hazardous and greenhouse gas emissions every year.
The State of West Virginia will provide $37,000,000 in incentives for Rockwool to locate their factory in the state. The factory will consume about 94 tons of coal and 1.61 million cubic feet of fracked gas every day, and only hire 150 people with non-union, mostly low-paying jobs at wages below the county average.
Jefferson County is within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The extraordinary natural beauty, rich history and creative culture make us a favorite destination for hiking, swimming, rafting, theater, horse racing and other activities. Please help us save our county and prevent a toxic polluter from threatening our global climate.
