Reunite Haitian American Families

We want Haitian FRPP now!

Building off of the work of Haitian Women of Miami (FANM),  Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) Black Immigration Network (BIN) and many other organizations across the nation over the past four years, “Reunite Haitian-American Families” campaign is a grassroots advocacy campaign comprised of Haitian American and immigration advocates, human rights activist and community leaders. As of November 1, 2013 DHS had approved over 110,000 visas including 16,000 for minors. However, these potential visa recipients must remain on wait list for up to more than 12 years in Haiti, where many have died or are at risk given the cholera outbreak and other life-threatening conditions. The goal of the campaign is to have President Obama instruct his secretary of homeland security, Jeh Johnson, to create a family reunification parole program similar to that of a program created for Cuban migrants. A parole program would allow the 110,000 Haitian visa recipients to wait for their permanent resident visas in the U.S rather than in disaster-stricken Haiti.
