Salute Selma

For more than two decades, our community has commemorated the anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” and the March from Selma to Montgomery, events which led to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

This Civil Rights milestone is celebrated during four days of more than 40 events – March 2-5, 2017. We call this annual celebration the “Bridge Crossing Jubilee.”

The Jubilee was founded to pay homage to those who fought for all Americans to participate in the voting process. And now, we are calling women of all races and ages; backgrounds and interests to join our fight against tyranny and oppression! From Anchorage to Rhode Island and Chicago to Texas, we will march in solidarity!

Once again, SELMA will serve as a national backdrop for women rights and human rights! Not since the 1960s have U.S. citizens suffered from such blatant attacks on democracy: sweeping suppression of voting rights and women’s rights with a heightened pipeline to prison and disenfranchisement of black and brown people.
