Seattle Solidarity Budget
Seattle Solidarity Budget (SSB) formed in 2020 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter national uprising, and the economic and climate crises. We began as a coalition of 200+ community groups (representing tens of thousands of Seattle residents) who demanded a 50% divestment from policing and re-investment in communities to achieve a safe, just, society where everyone has the ability to thrive.
We define what makes us safe, and collectively imagine the world we want.
We advocate for redistributing funding from prisons and cages to fund community driven programs and services that help people access what we need.
We aim to build thriving communities that make both police and prisons obsolete.
