In 1984, John Dillon opened a small storefront on Skid Row to hand out food and clothing. But again and again, he heard the same thing:

“I need a job.”
“I just want to work.”
“They won’t hire me.”

So he pivoted—and Chrysalis was born.

Today, Chrysalis is a trusted nonprofit serving Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire. We help people navigating homelessness, poverty, and the lasting impact of incarceration take meaningful steps toward employment and stability.

Because a job is more than a paycheck.
