SF PARENTS 4 EQUITY IS A GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION FOUNDED IN 2022 TO PROMOTE ANTI-RACIST AND ANTI-BIAS APPROACHES TO EDUCATION. WE BELIEVE THAT:

• We must support and build capacity within SF schools to promote equity for disadvantaged student populations, in compliance with California Department of Education laws.
• Diversity and equity education belongs in our schools as much as math, science, and language arts.
• Our students need equity education to engage in a diverse world and ethnic studies must be a budget priority in K-12 curriculum.
• Equity education empowers teachers and students to learn accurate history as well as gain skills needed to engage with people who come from different experiences and backgrounds.
• Education is about preparing children for the rest of their lives, and equity education gives them essential skills.

WHAT WE DO

Since spring 2022, we have been working to build a network of grassroots advocates across the United States to raise our voices together at the state and local level in favor of equity education. Our work so far has included:

• meeting with lawmakers
• testifying at hearings
• hosting in-person and virtual events on the importance of equity
• provide resources for marginalized students and parents
