Shahana Hanif is a Kensington-born daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants running to represent Brooklyn’s 39th District in the New York City Council.

She is an activist, community organizer, and public servant building with everyday neighbors on our most local fights. She is committed to a Brooklyn where everyone can live their life with dignity and a city grounded in joy, justice and care for one another.

If elected, she will be both the first Muslim woman and first South Asian person elected in NYC. She will also be our district’s first woman Council Member.
