About Us

The Staten Island Young Democrats (SIYD) is a chapter of the New York State Young Democrats (NYSYD). SIYD, or "SIyoungdems", aims to educate Staten Island youth on important local, state, and national issues, while fostering a welcoming environment for young people to get involved in politics and the Democratic Party.

As a whole, NYSYD works to elect Democratic candidates to public office, encourage youth involvement in the Democratic Party, support the ideals of the Democratic Party at all levels of government, and instill young people with the values for which the Democratic Party stands. The organization provides young people with the skills and experiences they will need to lead our nation. Young Democrats receive first-hand experience in campaigns and elections doing work like grassroots organizing and fundraising. Many of the Democratic Party’s leaders got their start in politics with the Young Democrats.
