Tenant March On Washington

On July 12, 2017, we’re uniting in Washington D.C. for the Tenant March on Washington.

Trump has officially declared his war on the poor. Tenants all over the United States are threatened by his administration’s proposed $7 billion cuts to federal housing programs.

The Department of Housing & Urban Development provides necessary aid to the most vulnerable people across the country, and ensures that poor and low-income families have a roof over their heads.

Trump plans to cut over $7.4 Billion in funding to HUD, which will eliminate housing vouchers for 250,000 households. The budget also plans to increase rents for all federally assisted households from 30% to 35% of income.

Rent increases will mean an average increase of over $100 per month for these households, who earn approximately $21,000 a year post taxes.  And while Trump makes major cuts to housing, he's giving out huge tax breaks to Wall St.

This isn't right.

It’s not only an insult to our poorest communities to defund housing programs while giving billions of dollars in tax breaks to Wall St. — it’s immoral and unjust.

The fight for housing is a fight for human rights, dignity, and justice. We call on all tenants, housing advocates, and all defenders of human rights to join us in Washington D.C. on July 12.On July 12, we're uniting in
