The Climate Reporter

The purpose of The Climate Reporter is to build a central blog where climate activists and organizations are able to send in articles about upcoming events, personal stories, policy changes in governments, etc. So that anyone hoping to learn about how the Climate Crisis is impacting the world, they can come and read the stories about various climate change related topics. The Climate Reporter, being in its infancy stages is working to develop connections with many major environmental organizations and trying to recruit journalists to write articles about major events impacting the world's climate.

About

We are a group of young climate activists from across the globe that are passionate about creating stories about frontline communities that are being impacted by the climate crisis, we have created a platform for frontline communities to be able to tell their story on the global stage.

The Climate Reporter focuses on creating two main types of articles:

Reporting On Unknown Climate Events:

The Climate Reporter does not want to be just another news source, but we want to report on climate change events that are not being heavily covered by news outlets. This is supported by our connections with frontline communities that will be able to inform of major climate events (such as natural disasters, fossil fuel companies wrongdoings, and )

Stories from Frontline Communities:

Climate change is seen as far off: Polar bears, sea-rise in 2100. It gets lost in the news cycle, while deniers fill online discussions with bombast and vitriol.

The Concept:

Providing youth with the ability to get experience in the journalism industry at a young age.

Creating a platform for Frontline Communities to share with the world, their stories and experiences about how the climate crisis has impacted their communities.

Unique news, we value stories that are not covered in mainstream media and encourage deep investigation into events to find new and unique stories that pertain to the climate crisis.

It is time for the hidden voices of the world, to take to the global stage through The Climate Reporter, we have created that stage.

Take the best of citizen science and add journalism. That's "Climate at your Doorstep."

Doorstep is a gathering space – a virtual town square – where the public, scientists, policy makers and journalists can get together and share and react to changes we're seeing right now, all around us. This amplifies your voice: Changes you see and questions you have get seen by others, become part of the public discussion and help shape science and journalism that in turn shapes and informs public policy.

Real experiences, real people, your neighbors, even your community is not safe from the climate crisis.

Jerome Foster II, our founder got the the idea for starting The Climate Reporter, out of concern for the integrity of reporting down by mainstream media of the climate crisis and how it is impacting so many human lives. He created this platform and encouraged other youth to spread the word about this growing movement of youth climate journalists.

There will be 2 Main phases of The Climate Reporter

Phase 1: The Climate Reporter will rise in name recognition through our partnerships and social media & google presence. Our biggest initiatives will be to develop partnerships, name recognition, staff, writers, and funding. (October 2018 - February 2018)

Phase 2: The Climate Reporter will begin to start asking news organizations to do interview with our frontline staff and writers and talk about how telling their story to the world has impacted their life. And through all of our social media outlets we will push the hashtag #ReportOnClimate. This hashtag will signify the struggles of those, being affected by the climate crisis right now and this hashtag will create a place for help to understand that the climate crisis is here, the climate crisis is affecting millions of people already, and the world needs to take notice of our struggles. This hashtag will signify that their story will no longer be hidden by the agenda's of big news organizations, but shall be told to those willing to listen and take action.
