Working Families United

Five labor unions have launched a campaign to preserve Temporary Protected Status, a humanitarian relief program that gives work authorization to more than 300,000 men and women in our country. The Bricklayers, Ironworkers, Painters, UFCW and UNITE HERE have joined forces to create Working Families United to prevent the Trump administration from terminating the TPS program and push Congress to enact a permanent solution. The stories, voices, and faces of union members who are at risk of losing their status will be at the heart of this campaign, which will include digital ads, a petition drive, large scale lobbying efforts, and direct actions in D.C. and districts around the country.

Campaign Goals

  1. Extend TPS and pass legislation that provides a path to legal status for the 320,000 working people currently in jeopardy of losing their legal work status.
  2. Win passage of the DREAM Act and prevent the deportation of 800,000 young people.
  3. Grow the power of TPS recipients, union members, and our labor–community partnerships to respond to future attacks on immigrant workers.
