Mystic Mashup Indivisible is a local chapter of the national Indivisible organization that works in the Mystic Valley area of eastern MA. We have members and conduct activities throughout Medford, Somerville, Malden and Everett. We came together following the 2024 election of Donald Trump, united by a shared commitment to:
- Defending democracy and resisting authoritarianism, both in the U.S. and around the world
- Protecting the rights and safety of marginalized communities, including people of color, the LGBTQIA+ community (particularly transgender individuals), immigrants and migrants at risk of deportation, women and girls, and other vulnerable groups
- Safeguarding voting rights, free speech, freedom of assembly, and a free press
- Opposing economic policies that have shifted the country’s wealth to the top 1% while cutting programs vital to vulnerable individuals
- Preserving the ability of our planet to sustain life in the face of human-generated threats to climate, bio-diversity, and other natural resources
- Supporting public infrastructure like healthcare, education, consumer protection, public safety, Social Security and other basic social programs
- Upholding the separation of church and state and resisting the rise of Christian Nationalism, particularly as advocated by the authors of Project 2025, many of whom are now top-level government officials
Our Mission
Our mission is to support and facilitate engagement of residents of our local communities in pro-democratic, anti-authoritarian actions. As is true of all Indivisible chapters, we are committed to non-violence.
What We Believe
- All human beings have fundamental rights, period.
- We have a moral obligation to make our voices heard, to speak out publicly in the face of wrongdoing, and to give strong feedback to our leaders.
- Democracy is worth fighting for.
- We are not powerless, especially when we organize.
- Organizing at a local level is a powerful way to bring about positive social change.
What We Do
- Build a welcoming community for those feeling anger, fear or overwhelm after the 2024 election
- Empower people to engage in real-world action that is meaningful and sustainable, primarily at local levels, but also at state and national levels when needed
- Align with Indivisible’s proven strategies, using their resources and tactics to strengthen impact
- Engage local government leaders—offering support or constructive feedback as appropriate
- Partner with like-minded groups, both within and beyond Indivisible
- Focus on the long-term goal of winning the 2026 mid-term elections
