XR Newcastle is the Hunter Region based group of the international Extinction Rebellion movement
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and pay our respects to Indigenous Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.
We reach across the local government areas of: Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Dungog and the Upper Hunter. Newcastle is home to the biggest coal port in the world, and the Hunter Valley is one of the largest river valleys on the NSW coast.
We aim to disrupt business as usual and to bring pressure onto the government to act on the climate and ecological emergency. Please join us.

Extinction Rebellion has local groups in all Australian state capitals and in many regional areas too. You can use the Extinction Rebellion Local Group location page to find a group near you or you can get a group of friends together and start your own (that's what we did).
