House Leadership: Call the Gift Ban to a Vote
The greatest crisis we face right now is the inability of our political system to respond to the many crises of our time. Our systemically corrupted government is currently set up to fail. When it is legal to gift our legislators cash and expensive vacations, we should not be surprised that our public servants represent the private interests that bribe them more than they represent the public.
While so many Pennsylvanians are suffering and struggling to put food on the table, our legislators are being routinely wined and dined by lobbyists. We need our State Legislature to pass HB 1945, the Gift Ban, so that Harrisburg can begin changing its culture of corruption and build desperately needed trust with the public. We need Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff and Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler to call HB 1945 up for a vote and prove to the people of Pennsylvania that they care about the strength of our democracy.MarchOnHarrisburg and our supporters have organized over the past four years building power across the state and shining light on corruption in Harrisburg. Together, we will create anti-corruption reform in Pennsylvania, and pass the Gift Ban. Considering the amount of push-back and empty promises we have been met with when discussing the Gift Ban, it is clearer than ever: Legislators don't want to upset their donor class. So, send a letter to Benninghoff and Cutler using this form and join us next week in Harrisburg to let them know that we aren't going anywhere until the reforms we support to end corruption in Pennsylvania are passed.
