Support Tuition Equity for Immigrant Students!

Thousands of undocumented Massachusetts high school students graduate each year without the prospect of a college education because of their immigration status. These highly-motivated students must pay out-of-state tuition rates for public higher education (up to 4x the instate rate) without access to federal or state financial aid, creating impossible barriers for low-income students.

But we have a historic opportunity to close this opportunity gap!

House and Senate budget leaders are considering adoption of a state budget proposal to extend access to in-state tuition and state-funded financial aid to all Massachusetts high school graduates attending our public colleges and universities, regardless of their immigration status.

Your state legislators need to hear from you! Budget negotiators value the feedback of their House and Senate colleagues. Urge your legislators to support Tuition Equity in the FY2024 Budget. Use our form to email your own state legislators in just a few minutes.

4 reasons to support an inclusive education policy:

  • Our Commonwealth has already invested in these students, who arrived in the U.S. as children and have been educated in our public schools.

  • Access to an affordable college education helps reverse declining college enrollment rates.

  • An affordable public higher education is an investment in an educated workforce.

  • Because it’s fair. These ambitious students deserve the same opportunities as their peers!

Massachusetts has a historic opportunity to join the 23 states that have expanded public higher educational opportunities to undocumented high school graduates. Let’s build on this legislature’s support for our Commonwealth’s immigrant communities! Send your email today!
