“Where is this even happening?”

A representative of the Malden School Committee recently posed this question to the rank-and-file members of the Malden Education Association who are fighting for School Safe Zones. “This” meaning, members of ICE showing up at schools and disappearing fathers, mothers, caregivers of students.

Tragically, this question has been answered: Malden’s own schools.

Leonardo Soares, the father of three of Malden’s own students, was abducted shortly after dropping off his young son at school.

It may be the end of the school year, but Malden’s students need us now more than ever.

Make no mistake, this will not be the last ICE abduction unless we stand together and say loud and clear: Not Here!

Leo’s oldest son, Heitor Soares, a graduate of Malden Public Schools, is asking for our help. Raise awareness of the unconstitutional actions conducted by ICE, abducting and disappearing members of our communities.
