Tell Congress: Block the $10 billion scam to fund Trump’s Orwellian Board of Peace
An Intercept analysis finds that every member state in President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” has been rebuked for human rights violations — either by Secretary Marco Rubio’s own State Department or before a 2025 whitewash of the department’s reports.
This board of human rights abusers was originally sold as a means to oversee the shaky Gaza peace plan. Trump has since recast it as an international force devoted to ending or preventing wars “where we see hot spots around the world.” He even suggested his group would provide oversight of the U.N.
Trump has also made himself king of the Board via a lifetime appointment as chair with total and complete control. He has “final authority regarding the meaning, interpretation, and application” of the charter, ensuring that every decision must have his explicit stamp of approval — including, of course, the Board’s finances.
Let’s be clear: This isn’t about peace. This is about unchecked power and creating a slush fund of global proportions.
Trump has pledged $10 billion in taxpayer money to bankroll it. And a $1 billion contribution secures permanent membership on the Board instead of a three-year appointment.
If Congress unlocks the funds, Trump could spend them on anything. Billions of public dollars would move according to his whim, and you can be sure he’ll profit from whatever it is.
Congress holds the constitutional responsibility to control federal spending. Lawmakers must not authorize billions of taxpayer money to fund Trump’s latest grift.
