ACTION ALERT: Final week to move biomass bills out of TUE!
We've been working to remove the remaining subsidies for wood burning from Massachusetts’ clean energy programs with two new bills this session. Another bill has emerged from committee that would instead backtrack on our progress on biomass. This bill would DOUBLE the subsidies for large wood boilers and furnaces that produce heat, and ELIMINATE a state-mandated study on the health and environmental impacts of biomass energy.
Please write to your legislators today to say no backtracking on biomass - and support our priority bills!
Thank you!
Friends & Allies - June 20th is the deadline for the TUE Committee to take action on our biomass bills – you know what to do! Let’s all make one more push to urge the Committee to report our bills out favorably:
Please call the offices of TUE Chairs Mike.Barrett@masenate.gov at (617) 722-1572 and Jeffrey.Roy@mahouse.gov at (617) 722-2030 this week, and ask that TUE support S.2136/H.3210 and S.2137/H.3211 by reporting them out favorably and including them in their climate package. These bills would remove subsidies for biomass energy from our clean energy programs.
Ask your own legislators to contact the TUE Chairs in support of the bills.
If you have time, please also contact other TUE members.
You can call or send a letter using our template, or draft your own. You can learn more about these bills on the No Toxic Biomass campaign website.
Thank you!
