Tell the Board: Help bring this dispute to a fair resolution
Bank of Canada security officers protect one of Canada's most important public institutions. Every day, they help keep the Bank safe and secure while protecting Canada's financial system.
Their collective agreement expired in December 2024. After months of bargaining, these workers are now on strike in Ottawa and locked out in Montreal because the Bank continues to demand concessions instead of reaching a fair agreement. A resolution is within reach if the Bank withdraws these demands.
The security officers provide essential services that require constant alertness, professionalism, and reliability. Workplace balance plays an important role in supporting fair scheduling, adequate rest between shifts, and a healthy work-life balance. These protections help reduce fatigue, improve morale, and contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment at the Bank. The Bank also wants to reduce maternity leave top-up benefits, leaving new families with less financial support at one of the most important moments in their lives.
Removing these provisions could negatively affect employee well-being, increase stress, and make it more difficult to recruit and retain experienced security staff. Maintaining workplace balance benefits not only employees but also the Bank by supporting a healthy, engaged, and effective workforce.
The Board of Directors has a responsibility to ensure the long-term success and reputation of the Bank of Canada. Board members can encourage management to withdraw these demands and reach a fair agreement.
The people who protect the Bank of Canada deserve to be treated with fairness and respect.
Now is the time to act.
Send a message to the Board of Directors and ask them to help bring this dispute to a fair resolution.
