The Clean Slate Initiative

Today, roughly one in three adults in Rhode Island—about 300,000 people—has an arrest or conviction record. For many, these records create lasting barriers to employment, housing, and education, even after they have completed their sentences and remained crime-free.

HB 7508 and SB 2711, The Rhode Island Clean Slate Act, would ensure friends and neighbors have a fair chance to move forward after being held accountable for a mistake.

Take action now to tell lawmakers that Clean Slate can’t wait, and it’s time to pass HB 7508 and and SB 2711.
