Tell KCATA: Sign the contract and stop playing games with our transit!
KCATA and the City of Kansas City, Missouri are in a funding standoff that may cause our entire transit system to collapse by August 15th. KCATA argues that the City’s contract terms are “unworkable.” The terms in question?
A transparent, public audit of their costs and finances.
A commitment to re-building regional buy-in and funding to our transportation system.
Accountability on reliability, performance, and speed of our buses.
It is outrageous that KCATA is refusing to be audited even after a number of municipalities have pulled out of our bus system because of unexplainable, skyrocketing costs. And on top of that? KCATA is ending universal Zero Fare even as they refuse to open their books to the public.
The KCATA, after their special session on Aug. 7th, decided nothing on the contract presented to them, and is pushing their formal decision back to Friday, August 15th. This is a disgraceful display from the KCATA, and puts our entire bus system, riders and operators, at risk of complete shutdown.
Send an email NOW before KCATA’s next meeting to demand they sign the contract and keep our buses alive! Share this page and follow @sunrisemvmtkc for updates.
