Massachusetts is facing a “perfect storm” of factors making it nearly impossible to balance school budgets without reductions that will have a negative impact on student learning, enrichment and support. There is no question that over the past five years, schools have struggled to meet greater demands, including students’ social-emotional and mental health needs. These additional expenses are compounded by other sharply rising costs.

The initial House budget proposal is a step in the right direction, but to address Massachusetts' school funding crisis, more is needed: Please send a letter and/or make calls to tell your state representative to support amendments that will more adequately fund our schools!
